SUPER SERIES QUICK CHANGE (QC)
|
|
New for 2009, Large Arbor, cork drag system with quick change spool. 3 Sizes.
Years of testing and engineering have produced the Super Series Quick Change (QC) reel. Simply back off the drag knob, push in and rotate the center cap for quickest spool release in the industry.
The first of three sizes of the QC - for 7/8 lines - will be out this spring, while the 9/10 and 11/12's are due in October.
- Super Series QC models utilize 6061-T651 cold finished aerospace grade aluminum for the spool and frame.
- Hi-Grade C64299 Silicon Aluminum Bronze drive system.
- Buna sealed micro-bearings are ISO 9001:200 and AS9100 certified FAA TSO C149 aircraft bearings.
- Cork Drag System is made entirely in our factory. We use a superior high grade cork with a little neats-foot oil on it.
- Double Pawl System; Advantages over single pawl system include: increased reliability, back-up strength and unique sound.
- Quick change spool.
- Made in the USA.

ANTI / REVERSE SERIES
What's an Anti/Reverse Reel? Simply put: on A/R models, the handle doesn't turn when line goes out. . . thus no more lost fish when a whirling handle meets your Irish fisherman's sweater. Abel A/Rs are lightweight, utilize a unique ball bearing design, and have fewer moving parts. Each A/R reel comes with its own finger wrench for removing the spool.
|
- 2009 marks the 15th year Abel had made Anti-Reverse Reels.
- Reel frame, spool, drag knob and foot are 6061-T651 cold finished aerospace grade aluminum.
- Teflon sealed bearings are ISO9001:2000 and AS9100 Certified FAA TSO C149 Aircraft Bearings.
- Cork Drag System is made entirely in our factory. We use a superior high grade Portuguese cork with a little neat's-foot oil on it.
- Double Pawl System: All Anti-Reverse reels are built with our recently upgraded double pawl system. Advantages include: increased reliability, back-up strength and unique sound.
- Industry's only sealed ball bearing design.
- Lighter, more dependable and fewest moving parts of any Anti-Reverse reel on the market.
- Each Anti-Reverse reel comes with its own finger wrench for removing the spool.
- FlexABELity: Interchange both large arbor and standard arbor spools.
- Made in the USA.
FlexABELity
FlexABELity = System designed to interchange both Large and Standard Arbor spools into the indentical frame. Every frame in the Super Series, Anti-Reverse Series and Abel Creek Series now accepts both Large and Standard Arbor spools.

The Abel Drag
Nylon and other plastics, which some manufacturers continue to use, can't be compressed. The drag plate deflects (bends) providing the pressure. Pure cork compresses up to 50%. You've seen a Champagne cork -when it comes out of the bottle… and still pops back to its original form. Pure cork has that compression that is magically inherent in its own material.
Abel uses a superior high-grade cork and puts a little pure neatsfoot oil on it. They don't abide gimmicks like "automatic drag wear compensating" devices because their drags do not wear. And they have 15-year old reels to prove it. |
 |
|
|
- 2009 marks the 11th year Abel has made Abel Creek Reels.
- Internally adjustable pawl click drag made from 303 heat treated stainless steel is locked in place by two small hex cam nuts and a spring retainer.
- To adjust the incoming or outgoing tension, simply rotate the fully enclosed hex nuts with your fingertip.
- Narrow frame equals fast line pick-up.
- FlexABELity: Interchange both large arbor and standard arbor spools.
