HOMER
JENNINGS
|
|
|
|
Homer Jennings has been building rods for more than 30 years in a
career that began with years of apprenticeship served in England while
stationed there in the U.S Air Force. Messrs. J. O. Bonham of St. Leonard
Rods and Ken Johnson of Falcon Rods were both kind enough to share their
techniques with a young and eager student. When Ken Johnson retired, Homer
purchased his mill and stocks of bamboo, and began the full-time work of
dedicated rod building. It is more than 30 years since Homer sold his
first rod and he has spent the intervening time perfecting his craft. It
is our good fortune that he decided to move back to
the U.S. where he is now building rods full time in Colorado.

Hand
split cane, heat pressed nodes, natural bamboo color, Garrison style 3-up
node spacing, Swiss style N/S ferrules and hardware, handsome Olive or
Eucalyptus wood reel seats, superb wrap and varnish work...as fine as all
these are...they are but complimentary to the very smooth progressive
actions Jennings builds into his rods. |
| The gently swelled butt, the
natural tones of his bamboo and the use of transparent Honey Lemon or
light Olive tipped dark Brown wraps are reminiscent of the exquisite
appearance of the Leonard rods turned out at Central Valley under the
guidance of Ruben Leonard and the Hawes brothers. Homer's rods clearly
demonstrate the characteristic superiority of those earlier rods and
follow their fine lead in quality of fit, finish and function. We are
pleased to have an occasional example of his fine rods to periodically
offer to our customers and friends. All such rods are always listed in our
Classic Rods & Current Inventory page whenever available.
Homer is about two years out on rod delivery from the time
of your order. All orders are accepted at price at time of delivery. Orders for non-stock
rods require a 200.00 non-refundable deposit to confirm. |
