C. Jenkins Rod Co. |

 |
Charlie Jenkins came to building split bamboo rods
from a lifetime of work as a machinist and tool maker in the aerospace
industry. He started his company in 1960 and later involved his young
son Steven in the work. In 1990, Steve decided to not only continue in
the business, but to do it on a full time basis giving up his job as a
teacher to devote 100% attention to the craft. Today, Charlie and his
son Steven, continue to craft rods in the same traditional, practised
and time tested manner. These have become prized possessions of their
owners. |
| Jenkins rods are so cherished, that seldom do pre-owned rods
find their way to the market, and when they do, they bring prices
equivalent to the best rods from better known makers. |

Jenkins
rods are intriguing. They have very subtle actions that remind you of
the Garrison feel, but at the same time they are somewhat different.
Seems they were designed to cast with almost no effort on the part of
the caster and they have a smooth medium dry fly action with fine tips
and precisely calibrated tapers. They boast a simple beauty and feature
a lovely medium to medium dark cane color, offset by Golden Bronze
wraps, mortised wood reel seats nickel silver ferrules and hardware.
Very pleasing to the eye and very pleasant in the hand, no wonder they
are so cherished by their owners. Pictured above from left to right as
